Killian Sullivan Named Young Birder of the Year

Congratulations to Killian Sullivan for earning the prestigious American Birding Association’s 2025 Young Birder of the Year award, honoring his outstanding efforts in the world of birding!

Killian is a 13-year-old birder from Ohio and an outstanding partner to the Grange Insurance Audubon Center. His birding passion began with a Steller’s Jay and has grown to nearly 700 species across the country. Killian founded his own bird focused organization, Buckeye Birding, to celebrate birds through guiding, conservation, and education. This past year, he brough a six part Buckeye Birding workshop series to Grange where he guided participants through all things birds - from anatomy and plumage to birding by sound to warbler identification. Killian is also a member of the Central Ohio Chapter of the Ohio Young Birders Club, a program of Black Swamp Bird Observatory (BSBO) that seeks to encourage and empower our youth conservation leaders.

Thank you Killian for all that you do for birds!
